During the European Women’s Individual Chess Championship Refreshment courses for arbiters were held in Riga. These courses served as a wonderful opportunity for local arbiters as well as guests from neighborhood countries to learn about latest and upcoming changes in Laws of chess, ECU tournament rules as well as discuss many different practical topics from the arbiter’s duties. The courses were organized by European Chess Union (ECU) and the lecturer was Chairman of FIDE Rules Commission and Chairman of ECU Arbiters’ Council IA Ashot Vardapetyan.

All the participants would like to thank ECU and lecturer A. Vardapetyan for this opportunity and very interesting 3 days. Many things were cleared for the arbiters to help them in their upcoming tournaments. We hope that something similar will be repeated during the European Youth Chess Championship happening in Riga in August 2018.
